Amy Conway Event in East Hampton

New York, NY – July 26, 2011 – Retailer Gail Rothwell and jewelry designer Amy Conway are pleased to announce East Hampton Shop at Sunset, a charitable shopping initiative benefiting The Retreat.  On Wednesday, August 17th, leading East Hampton retailers will join forces to raise funds for the Retreat, the only non-profit domestic violence agency serving the East End of Long Island.  Taking place from 5:00 – 8:00pm, “Shop at Sunset” will include trunk shows, music, special offers and refreshments.  The Gail Rothwell boutique, located at 66 Newtown Lane, will host the first East Coast trunk show for Amy Conway’s signature jewelry collection.
East Hampton Shop at Sunset marks the first fashion and retail partnership for The Retreat.  Executive Director Jeffrey Friedman comments  “During an unprecedented time when requests for Retreat services are at an all time high, we are grateful for the support of Gail Rothwell and Amy Conway.”  He continues, “This event will raise needed funds to assist women and children in crisis, and raise awareness about our community’s epidemic of domestic violence.”
Conway’s nature-inspired designs are rendered in sterling silver and adorned with colorful, semi-precious gemstones.   Offerings range from delicate daisy rings and jewel-studded marigold earrings to vintage-style link bracelets and graceful, contemporary medallion pendants.   Pieces are influenced by Conway’s artistic background, poetry and extensive travels in India, Mexico, Africa, Australia, and Europe.  Conway says, “The Gail Rothwell boutique is so chic.  It is the perfect place to debut my new designs.”  She continues, “I am delighted to partner with Gail in raising funds for The Retreat, which has been doing extraordinary work for years.” The Gail Rothwell boutique has been praised by New York Social Diary as “combining the best and hippest of Madison Avenue and SoHo” and been called “the place to go for Celine, Marni and Lanvin” by Departures Magazine.
In addition to being beautiful, Amy Conway jewelry is also meaningful: sales benefit Conway’s foundation, Love Truly Matters. Conway created Love Truly Matters with the goal of supporting organizations that empower women and girls throughout the world.  Its mission is echoed in messages of love that are inscribed on her jewelry designs.  Recently, Love Truly Matters partnered with Girls Inc. and the Santa Fe International Folk Art Market.
About The Retreat: Founded in East Hampton in 1987, the Retreat is the only women’s shelter in the East End. The mission of the Retreat is to provide safety, shelter and support for victims of domestic abuse and to break the cycle of family violence, as well as combating the belief that domestic abuse does not happen in the Hamptons.
