Shop At Sunset
August 31st, 2011
Our event in East Hampton was a big success. It was my first trip to the Hampton’s and I wasn’t disappointed. Once we got past the long line of traffic on highway 27 which everyone warned me about we found our way to the Hunting Inn which was a very nice and cozy B&B. The location was fantastic as we could walk everywhere in town – and after a rainy morning the sun came out and it was a beautiful afternoon. The cocktail party at c/o Maidstone honoring the Retreat was a great party. I met lots of wonderful people and enjoyed talking with Jeffrey Friedman, Jennifer Palmer and Heather .. of the Retreat – a shelter for women who have suffered from domestic violence. It is a little known fact that domestic violence exists to the extent it does in the Hamptons. Jennifer told me that there has been a 53% increase in domestic violence in the last 18 months. The staff is very well trained and do a superb job in assisting these women. I was very happy to help them with a donation from Love Truly Matters. We had a fantastic meal at the ‘Living Room” – the Maidstone’s restaurant after the party. The next day we took the free electric car shuttle to the beach. It was another gorgeous day and swimming in the ocean was such a treat. Too bad we only had an hour to play in the waves but we needed to get ready for our trunk show at the store Gail Rothwell. What a wonderful human being she is – I am so blessed to have made such a new friend. Her store was a beautiful venue for my first trunk show in the Hamptons and it was exciting to be apart of the first annual Shop at Sunset event. Hampton’s magazine featured Gail in a nice story and mentioned me and Love Truly Matters. We have posted it on…. The whole community came out to support the Retreat, which was a beautiful thing. If you happen to be in the Hamptons around this time next year, please come and Shop at Sunset.
